SIP Drafts: Device Control

PHONECTL Protocol
Rick Dean, Ronnen Belkind and Billy Biggs
January 2001.
The PHONECTL protocol allows remote control of an IP phone as an alternative to human keying. For example, a Palm sized computer could provide speed dialing and call screening for an embedded SIP ether- phone over infrared. PHONECTL is designed to be simple to fit inside a PDA and embedded phone; intermittent connection capable (i.e. optional for any part of the call); more secure, where plain-text passwords need not be shared with the phone.
