IRC and Chat

• "IRC networks break apart when the number of chat rooms exceeds about 2000, with the number of simultaneous users somewhere between 5000 and 10000. I think this is for reasons having to do with the sociology that the IRC technology can support, more than sheer number of users. The number of max-sized IRC networks in the world is less than 20; say 200.000 simultaneous IRC users on 20.000 chatrooms. Number of listeners per group is a lot higher than 4."
