User Input of URLs
The caller should have a number of possibilities to start browsing:
- User-specific home page, where users are identified by caller-ID or
typing in a PIN;
- Using the phone keypad to enter the URL, with completion as in IE
and Netscape, i.e., attempt to add .com, .net, .org or .edu to the URL
and prefix it with "www.";
- History list;
- Keep a database of common URLs or a copy of the .com, .org, .edu and
.net database and match by approximation; e.g., "2 6 5 8 6 2 4 2"
matches "columbia", but may also match other words, which are presented
to the user as a menu. Might give the user a top-level choice of TLD.
- Speech recognition, with spelling or common names.
Use speech recognizer, such as those described in the Speech
FAQ. Since web site names are often not "real" English words or
drawn from other languages, it is probably
